Motivation
Teaching in the engineering curriculum is undergoing rapid transformation owing to the swift development of novel technologies and paradigms. With a focus on tracking innovative teaching strategies, the IEEE German Education Conference (GECon) endeavors to bring together researchers and educators. GECon aims to provide a platform for networking with peers in engineering education and expand the current teaching landscape at German academic institutions.
.GECon 2024
Due to the great success of GECon in 2022 (Proceedings) and 2023 (Proceedings), the conference will return. In 2024, the event will be organized by the IEEE Germany Section and locally hosted by ProLehre | Media & Didactics of Technical University of Munich and aims to: i) provide a platform to discuss teaching methodologies in German institutions, ii) foster collaboration among educational institutions, and iii) develop partnerships between academia and industry. Next to scientific submissions, the conference offers workshops and panels to interchange experiences regarding online teaching, labs, and evaluations.
Topics of interest (but not limited to)
- Remote Instruction: online laboratories, best practices on online courses, massive open online courses.
- Curriculum design: Novel activities in academic program design.
- Non-traditional teaching in engineering education: Artificial Intelligence, Gamification, Project-based learning.
- STEM education initiatives, e.g. K-12 education.
- New paradigms and technologies: Society & Industry 5.0, IoT/IoE, 5G/6G Cyber-physical systems, Digital twins.
- Collaborative learning networks between nongovernmental organizations, academia, and industry.
